Together Forever
A promise is a promise.
The flickering flame flaunted its red.
Hands shaking against the candle, sucking in its last breath.
Light laminates the long, lamentable lake.
Tall trees tremor. Taunting. Tantalizing.
A promise is a promise.
The wind bristles, sending silent whispers.
Lurking behind, his voice. Maybe, hers. Mixed to be one.
Eyes peak out with pure poison, now.
The water is waiting; unwavering.
A promise is a promise.
She sheds no salty tears. Satisfied with her life sentence.
But, still, the hurt humming in her heart is earsplitting.
A tune singing only loneliness.
Wistful whispers wail to her.
He's gone;
A promise is a promise.
Fingers fiddle the familiar feeling. Her ring.
Till death. A promise is a promise.
Walking forward, a warm smile, wrinkles from age, she wades into the water.
I do.
